Gambling revenue for the first half of the year increased by 66% year-on-year thanks to the end of the Covid-19 restrictions on land-based gambling in Lithuania.
Gross revenue was equal to 89.3 million euros, compared to 53.8 million euros in the first half of 2021, when the measures of Covid-19 continued to affect traditional casinos, slot machines and retail betting .
The revenue of terrestrial games increased by 1,139.3% from 2.8 million euros in 2021 to 34.7 million euros. The category B slot machine with a bet limit of €0.50 was the main revenue generator, amounting to €15.3 million. The unlimited A category has generated 6.2 million euros. Lottery ticket sales reached 65.2 million euros, up 3.2%.
Anche il gambling online has continued to grow despite the return of terrestrial options and the strict marketing restrictions of online games. Revenue increased by 7.7% on an annual basis to 54.9 million euros.
The category A online slot generated €15.5 million and the category B slot €683,313. Online sports betting revenue reached 9 million euros and table games 3.5 million euros.
The Lithuanian Gambling Supervisory Authority has issued a series of fines in recent months for violating the country’s strict gambling promotion rules. The latest fine was issued to Gaming Strategy Group, which manages Betsson’s Betsafe brand in Lithuania. He received a fine of 25,000 euros for sending a newsletter about an online game to 10,430 clients in February.
