Jul. 18 — Southeastern Connecticut’s tribal casinos have reported their slot-machine revenues declined in June compared to the same month the previous year.
Mohegan Sun “won,” or kept, $ 39.8 million in revenue slots after paying out prizes last month, 2.7% less than the $ 40.9 million it kept in June 2021, according to data posted online by the state Department of Consumer Protection’s Gaming Division.
Foxwoods Resort Casino kept $ 27.1 million in June, down 7.7% from the $ 29.4 million it kept the previous June.
The casinos contributed 25% of their slots winnings to the state, with Mohegan Sun remitting nearly $ 10 million and Foxwoods paying $ 6.7 million.
Also in June, Mohegan Sun generated $ 6.5 million in gross online casino gaming revenue and paid the state 18%, or $ 1.2 million. Foxwoods generated $ 9.8 million, nearly $ 1.8 million of which went to the state.
Mohegan Sun posted $ 2.3 million in gross online sports betting revenue compared to Foxwoods’ $ 1.7 million and the Connecticut Lottery Corp.’s $ 316,193. Each paid 13.75% of their winnings to the state, with the combined total coming to $ 597,781.
The lottery also paid the state $ 71,672 of the $ 521,253 it generated in gross sports betting revenue at its retail locations.
The lottery reported last week that it returned $ 406 million in profits to the state in the 2022 fiscal year that ended June 30, the second-highest annual total in its 50-year history. Lottery sales totaled $ 1.45 billion in the fiscal year.
Fiscal-year totals for casino revenues and payments to the state were not readily available Monday.
