Vannini collected money from clients, friends and relatives. In 2014, the bank he worked for fired him, forcing him to resign once he was no longer considered a reliable person. The epilogue was in March 2015: Vannini had stressed to the judges even in the first degree that at the end of the course he did not know whether to take his own life or go to confess to the Guardia di Finanza.
