A $ 5 million investment in new casino floor slot machines – as well as the addition of a retractable dome over the rooftop pool and VIP Asian gaming room – are just part of what’s new for 2022 at Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City.
Slot machine installation began in January and will continue throughout 2022 at the Atlantic City casino.
Work on the retractable dome is expected to begin in February and be completed in May. “We’re hoping it will be ready in time for Memorial Day,” said Mark Giannantonio, Resorts President and CEO.
The slots and rooftop pool upgrades are in addition to air quality renovations Resorts installed in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is also part of a total of $ 130 million in overall upgrades in recent years.
“As we continue to come out of the impact of the coronavirus we continue to reinvest in our property,” said Giannantonio. “It is our ongoing commitment to the property to continue to develop slot products and make improvements. We’re also creating a new Asian-themed room. ”

“Every single week you are going to see new slot machines arrive on the casino floor and they’re all going to have new slot stools that are very large and comfortable,” Giannantonio said.
The new slots are in addition to the ones already on the casino floor.
Classic slot machines remain at Resorts
Giannantonio said they are keeping the ‘classic’ machines at Resorts. They include:

“Some of the classics have been customer favorites for a while, so we have a lot of great balance on the floor,” Giannantonio said.
VIP Asian room added for loyal following
Resort’s new high-limit VIP Asian room will include additional baccarat games.
“We have a very loyal following and we want to make sure we are making the best accommodations for our Asian players,” he said.
Resorts games for Asian players include Pai Gow Tiles, Mini-Baccarat, Pai Gow Poker, and Sic Bo.
Giannantonio credited Resort’s popularity to the working relationship with Mohegan Gaming and Entertainment, which assumed management of Resorts Casino Hotel in 2012.
Sportsbook, conference center upgrades at Resorts
He said the $ 130 million in renovations have included an all-new state-of-the-art Resorts Conference Center, a large $ 25 million room renovation project, and the $ 35 million Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville. This is a themed entertainment complex with the only beach bar, Landshark Bar and Grill, on the Atlantic City sand open year-round.
In 2018, Resorts also welcomed DraftKings Sportsbook, an on-property retail space where guests can enjoy live, in-game and general sports betting around the world.
Resorts established upgrades amid the COVID-19 pandemic in the 2020 closure to provide clean air.
Giannantonio said Resorts installed bi-polar ionization indoor air purification system technology on the casino flooras well as the hotel lobby, bars, and restaurants.
Giannantonio said the step was taken to ensure “a safe and comfortable environment” for guests.
The upgrades were part of Resorts’ Play Safe, Work Safe plan to welcome back guests and employees after the pandemic closure. Gov. Phil Murphy closed casinos for six months in March 2020. The closure marked the fifth time gambling halls shuttered in the history of Atlantic City gambling.
Rooftop is a major resorts renovation
When the rooftop pool is renovated with the retractable roof, Giannantonio said “it will enable it to be used year-round.”
He said everything in the pool deck area will be replaced.
In February, there will also be a new HVAC system as well as updated sound to surround the pool deck and new televisions.
“This is a major project because the existing dome has to be disassembled using cranes. Everything will be state of the art, ”Giannantonio said.
Change is important for customers
Upgrades are important to the property because Giannantonio said “we have a local customer base who have been coming back here since we opened in 1978.”
He continued:
“We feel like we are located in the best neighborhood and we are the first casino in North Beach. This is a beautiful area and our natural resources are unmatched. We have Steel Pier next to us and Tennessee Avenue. We may be small with 942 rooms, but all are beautiful and all are renovated. And we want to always offer the very best product. ”
An overview of Resorts
The hotel guest rooms and suites are in two towers, and Resorts also has an 80,000 square-foot casino.
Overall, there are two theaters, 10 restaurants, a food court featuring six eateries, two VIP slots and table player lounges, a casino bar, health club, spa, salon, and retail shops. Its 64,000 square feet of technologically advanced meeting space includes 24meeting and function rooms, most featuring natural light and ocean views, and a 13,000 square-foot ballroom.
