Turnover gimmicks have become a staple of college football.
Some of them are pretty cool, some not so much — I’m looking at you, turnover backpack. But you’d be hard-pressed to find a turnover tradition more unique than UNLV’s, which does a perfect job of reflecting the city within which the school resides.
Instead of a piece of jewelry, the Rebels wheel out a massive slot machine straight out of a casino. I mean, you simply couldn’t get more Vegas if you tried.
Coach Marcus Arroyo’s team debuted the turnover slot machine last fall, but we got our first look at it in 2022 during the season-opening 52-21 win over Idaho State in Week 0.

Coming off a 2-10 season that featured very few highs, the big win was certainly a nice way to start off Year 3 for Arroyo, and the players were eager for something to celebrate.
Some teams may have jumped the shark a bit when it comes to turnover celebrations, but as far as gimmicks go, this one is pretty cool.
